Zweig Group, a leading provider of advisory services, research, and education for the AEC industry, has just released its 2023 Salary Report for AEC Firms for all regions of the United States. These reports are based on a comprehensive salary survey of hundreds of industry individuals and firms, is presented in three separate regional editions: North and South Atlantic, Central, and Pacific and Mountain, in both PDF and hardcopy options. Zweig Group also uses this data to prepare an interactive, Excel-based benchmarking tool, the 2023 Total Compensation Benchmarking Tool, which will be released later in January 2023.
Zweig Group will also be launching the next phase of Zweig Insights later this year, with a new and improved compensation module that will allow customers and clients to access Zweig Group’s compensation benchmarks like never before.
Zweig Group’s salary research can be used by architecture and engineering firms to assess compensation levels, prepare job offers, evaluate pay equity, and compare salaries with competitors.
“The AEC industry is in a talent deficit right now. Everyone in the industry is competing for labor, and compensation remains one of the key determinants for employees – it’s very important that AEC firms have the data needed to set salaries and compensate their employees effectively. Compensation is just one component of an effective recruitment and retention strategy, but it’s not an area that should be based on guesswork,” said Will Swearingen, Zweig Group’s principal in charge of research.
Data is included for all types and levels of staff including interns, technical staff, administrative, operations, and management, ranging from entry-level employees up to principals. Technical staff data is broken into five levels – entry-level, project engineer, project manager, department head, and principal. The report also shows salaries for management positions – such as presidents, CEOs, CFOs, branch managers, and others – as well as support services like IT, marketing, and administrative staff. Descriptions and average years of experience are included for all titles in the survey, and 10-year trend data is also given for the majority of roles.
