The Zweig Letter podcast: A view from the front line
Dec 22, 2017
In this episode, Randy Wilburn speaks with an up-and-coming project engineer with BIG RED DOG, Shaun Theriot-Smith. Shaun is a veteran who graduated from the University of Houston as student body president. He's declared himself "all in!" when it comes to making a difference for his firm and the design industry. Shaun talked at length about his decision to go back to school to become an engineer after serving in Afghanistan and other parts of the Middle East. Shaun believes there are a lot of opportunities for design firms to hire veterans. One of his goals is to create greater awareness on both sides of the table about the resources available. Shaun also talked about the camaraderie and flexibility that his BIG RED DOG work environment provides. They closed their conversation by talking about Shaun's personal life, including his most recent reads: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. They also talked about his wife's obsession with all things Star Trek, and about how having three kids under the age of four doesn't allow for a lot of travel time.Additional information:Contact:
