The Zweig Letter podcast: Murrye Bernard, Architect & Journalist, Architect Magazine
Mar 20, 2018
Randy Wilburn had a chance to sit down and talk with architect and journalist Murrye Bernard from Architect Magazine. Murrye had a lot to share on the podcast about the pros and cons of licensure. She also talked about the fact that design students today aren't comfortable with sketching and drawing by hand, which she thinks is a shame.
They also discussed some of her recent articles from Architect Magazine, including one about how WeWork is upending the design industry with some of their in-house design offerings ("The Interloper: WeWork Upends the Conventional Architecture Firm"). She's also covered some of the new entrepreneurial endeavors that firms like Thornton Tomasetti and Weidlinger are undertaking to avoid losing talented designers to Silicon Valley ("The Capitalists: Thornton Tomasetti Bets on Innovation Through TTWiiN"). They also talked about some of the other interesting topics that Murrye has covered recently, including code related issues, micro unit housing, and how to properly brand projects ("When Less Space Invites More Regulations").
