Alok is a technology executive with 20 years of global experience leading enterprise IT, digital transformation, and M&A integration across private equity-backed, Fortune 100, and consulting environments.
As Chief Technology Officer at Ardurra, Alok oversees the full technology function—spanning infrastructure, applications, data & analytics, cybersecurity, and digital innovation, including AI—to enable scalable growth in a high-performance engineering and consulting firm.
Previously, Alok served as CIO at Artera, a $2.5B PE-owned utility services company, where he led ERP and field tool modernization, centralized IT operations across 14 acquisitions, advanced cybersecurity maturity to a top-tier level, and deployed AI-based operational tools in the field.
Earlier in his career, Alok held senior leadership roles at Deloitte Consulting (Associate Partner, M&A IT) and General Electric, where he directed large-scale IT integrations, carve-outs, and cost-optimization programs on a global scale.
He is recognized for building high-performing teams, aligning technology with business strategy, and delivering measurable outcomes in complex, rapidly evolving environments.
Brad’s 30+ year career spent working with architecture and engineering (AE) firms includes his most recent role as Partner with TWO CPAs & Consultants, Inc., as well as being a Consultant with PSMJ Resources for 17 years. Additionally, after serving as an outsourced CFO and controller for numerous firms, Brad has deep firsthand knowledge of how to develop and execute successful finance and accounting practices in the AE industry.
Highly skilled at translating accounting terms and best practices into a language his AE clients can easily understand and act on, Brad has a strong track record for helping firms improve profitability, transition ownership, and successfully execute mergers and acquisitions. With enthusiasm and passion, Brad approaches each client relationship holistically, with a focus on understanding overall operations, personal lifestyle goals, and the firm’s future view.
Brandon Pinkerton is the CEO and founder of HP Engineering, Inc., bringing over two decades of electrical design and project management expertise. His extensive experience spans various sectors: education, medical, municipal, hospitality, residential, commercial, industrial, government, entertainment, and retail.
As the Chief Executive Officer and founding principal of HP Engineering, Brandon plays a crucial role in driving the organization’s strategic planning and business development goals. Brian Kirkpatrick is an Operating Executive Partner with Palm Beach Capital, supporting PBC across the AEC & Infrastructure sectors. He currently serves on the boards of PBC portfolio companies Pape-Dawson Engineers and United Design Group - MBI Companies. Collectively, the partners at Palm Beach Capital have grown several large engineering consulting practices across the United States, including Pape-Dawson Engineers, Earth systems, MBI Companies, and Universal Engineering Sciences (UES), the fastest growing engineering firm in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Chad Clinehens is the president and CEO of Zweig Group. Passionate about the business side of design and technical service firms, Chad has built a career on leading them through growth and change. He has worked with AEC firms throughout the U.S. on a variety of needs – strategic business planning, turnarounds, partner separations, organizational restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, marketing and sales, growth campaigns, and more.
As a registered professional engineer, Chad brings an in-depth knowledge of what makes professional service firms and the people who work for them unique. Working in the industry for more than 20 years, he has been involved in many aspects of the business including design, project management, department management, regional office management, and directional leadership. He holds a MBA and BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas and is a registered professional engineer in several states.
Dan Huntington, CE, PE, SE, LEED AP, is a managing principal and IMEG Vice President overseeing the M&A Synergy Team with a focus on onboarding and firm integration.
Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Purdue University, a master’s degree in structural engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from the University of Iowa. His master’s degrees help him to bridge the gap between business objectives and the technical constraints of a project. Dan has an impressive history of project management and helping clients with design challenges as well as managing large teams of engineers in multiple disciplines to ensure clients’ expectations are exceeded. He has particular expertise in alternative delivery methods (design-build, integrated project delivery), building information modeling and international operations. Dan is licensed in multiple states and is a member of AISC, SEAOI, ICRI, and SAME.
Gene is Chairman of San Antonio-based Pape-Dawson Engineers. In this position, he provides growth, strategic, and financial
management to the firm’s management team and its employees. From a staff of two
60 years ago, Pape-Dawson now employs more than 2,000 professionals and has
grown into one of the largest and most respected engineering firms in the country. Gene’s commitment to the engineering profession has been recognized with many accolades including Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Bexar Chapter, Young Engineer of the Year and the Engineer of the Year; National Association of Homebuilders Member Award and American Society of Landscape Architect Environmental Stewardship Award; Real Estate Council of Texas Philip M. Barshop Founder’s Award.
He serves the profession with memberships in ASCE; NSPE; TSPE, Bexar Chapter, State Director; Professional Engineers in Private
Practice; Greater San Antonio Builders Association; and Associated General
Contractors of Texas.

Hobson has represented many buyers and sellers across the AEC industry for over 15 years as an advisor. His experience includes several deals spanning a variety of markets and geographies involving private firms, publicly traded firms, and private equity firms in North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. He excels at solving complex issues to help clients achieve their growth goals.
With over a decade of experience in the AEC industry, Jeff Adams is a seasoned M&A advisor who helps firms achieve their strategic growth objectives. As Director of SN’s Merger and Acquisitions practice area and Certified M&A Advisor, he leads the M&A team, partnering with architecture, engineering, and construction firms on both the buyer and seller sides to strategically position them for greater future success. Jeff has successfully advised numerous M&A transactions, ensuring smooth and successful transitions for his clients. He also hosts the popular AEC Unscripted: M&A Edition podcast, where he shares insights and best practices with AEC leaders, including executives from ENR Top 500 firms.
During his career, Jeff has gained extensive experience overseeing strategy and operations related to accounting, financial planning, and analysis. Before joining SN, he held an executive leadership role at an engineering firm, where he played a pivotal part in leading his firm through a successful acquisition process.
Jesse drives the vision and follow-through for Verdantas’ workforce spread across the U.S. Verdantas is recognized for its deep-rooted culture of support, collaboration and innovation. Under Jesse’s direction, the company is poised to harness digital integration, amplifying its value proposition in sustainable engineering and environmental services.
Before taking the lead role at Verdantas, Jesse showcased his operational strength as the company’s COO. He was at the center of a robust expansion, more than doubling the staff strength in a single year, while reinforcing profitability and staff morale. Such extensive operational transformations were not new to Jesse. At WSP USA, he wore multiple hats – from leading their US Power market operations across diverse energy sectors to managing business operations for the entire New England district, a portfolio worth $120 million across over 6 markets.
However, Jesse’s historical career impact hasn’t just been confined to the corporate sector. He founded QT2 Systems, LLC, and under his guidance, it burgeoned into a world-renowned endurance sports coaching entity, engaging over 80 professionals across the U.S. A world class IRONMAN coach himself, Jesse has worked with over a dozen IRONMAN champions to produce over 30 IRONMAN wins, underscoring his analytical approach and deep-seated athlete-coach relationships. His thought leadership in the related domain of sports nutrition is encapsulated in his book, “The Endurance Training Diet & Cookbook,” published by Random House in 2017. He also, over the period of about 10 years, taught on topics of nutrition, psychology, sport mechanics, and physiology for the national federation of triathlon in the US – an experience which gained him recognition as a thought leader, and taught him how to engage large audiences of people in engaging ways.
Before his entrepreneurial stint, Jesse had a distinguished tenure at WSP USA, starting as a Structural Engineer. Here, he handled significant hydropower projects, including the Greenland Power Project Feasibility Study, a mammoth 650 MW power project postulated for the western coast of Greenland. His responsibilities spanned across conceptual design, engineering field studies, and strategic coordination.
A constant through Jesse’s varied roles has been his focus on people, whether fostering a collaborative work environment at Verdantas, or building close ties with world-class athletes. His ability to blend technical expertise with genuine leadership makes him an esteemed figure in both the sustainable engineering and athletic coaching professional service fields.
Kate’s 25 years of experience in the Architecture and Engineering industry includes leadership roles as a Consultant, Principal-in-Charge, and National Engineering Director. Her primary focus is on helping clients with transition strategies including ownership transition and mergers and acquisitions. Kate applies a “lead with people” approach as she partners with firms to successfully anticipate and prepare for their future.
KP is the visionary Founder and CEO of Shadow Ventures, a powerhouse in technology and innovation in the built environment. Renowned for his expertise, he authored the definitive guide to Building Information Modeling—“BIM for Building Owners and Developers”, What you know about Startups is wrong.”, and his latest book that is helping companies leverage AI to increase their enterprise value, “Creating the Intangible Enterprise: The Critical Skills Required to Thrive in an AI-Driven World”.
With a remarkable track record, KP has founded and successfully exited three technology companies, achieving IPOs on NASDAQ, NYSE, and through private ventures. He has led Enterprise Transformation at Gehry Technologies, and served as General Manager of ATDC at Georgia Tech, one of the nation’s oldest and most respected technology incubators. KP is not just a leader—he’s a game changer, driving the future of our industry with unwavering confidence and strategic insight. He has become the most influential leader of his generation in driving change in some of the oldest industries in the world.
Kristi focuses her extensive expertise on helping clients design a workforce that is not only prepared for the future, but one that leverages disruption to thrive and succeed. Mitch joined KSA in May 1984 and has worked there throughout his entire professional career, except for a two-year stint with the Federal Aviation Administration's Airports Division from 1989 to 1991. Mitch advanced from Design Engineer to the President and CEO of the firm, serving roles along the way as Division Manager and Director of Marketing. Since merging KSA with Pape-Dawson in October of 2024, Mitch now serves as a Managing Principal of Pape-Dawson.
Paul VanDuyne, PE, is the president and CEO of IMEG, bringing 50 years of engineering and leadership expertise to the firm. As the head of the organization and an executive principal, Paul drives IMEG’s vision and strategic growth initiatives, guiding the company toward continued success.
Paul, an electrical engineer by trade, joined the company—then known as KJWW—as its 16th employee in 1976. His dedication and leadership propelled him to the role of president in 2003, when the firm had 200 employees and four locations in the Midwest. In 2015, Paul embarked on a bold vision for growth, expanding IMEG through a combination of organic development and strategic acquisitions. Under his leadership, IMEG has grown into a national powerhouse with over 90 office locations, 3,000 team members, and top national rankings on both ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms and BD+C Giants lists.
Paul’s achievements have earned him numerous accolades, most recently ENR’s Midwest Legacy Award in 2023. He is a member of the Design Futures Council, NSPE, IES, and AEE, and serves on IMEG’s Board of Directors. Beyond IMEG, Paul is actively involved in the broader community, having chaired multiple non-profits, and is a member of Strategic Coach, Chief Executive Network, and a regular attendee at the EFCG annual conference.
Described by his clients as outstanding, effective, and efficient, Peter Grupp engages in a diverse legal practice representing clients in complex corporate transactions. Peter enjoys guiding his clients through multi-faceted business transactions, using his experience to anticipate and protect against hurdles and pitfalls, and navigate his clients to a successful closing.
Peter focuses his corporate practice in mergers and acquisitions, primarily in the professional services industries. As part of Lawson & Weitzen’s transaction team, Peter has helped close over 100 acquisitions, serving as the lead transaction attorney for many of them. Recently, Peter has helped close multiple private equity recapitalizations of prominent engineering firms throughout the country.

Phil brings a wealth of strategic expertise to Grace Design Studios, poised to steer the firm towards ambitious growth and expansion targets. Formerly a Principal, Shareholder, and Director of Strategy at Zweig Group, Phil has a proven track record in developing and implementing strategic initiatives. His experience as a frequent speaker on strategy and leadership underscores his dedication to knowledge sharing and industry advancement. Phil is a strong advocate for the transformative power of strategy, collaboration, and ambition in driving industry progress.
Rob Hughes is a senior vice president and equity partner with Ames & Gough. He is responsible for providing service to clients and developing new relationships in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York. Rob is the founder of our Philadelphia office.
Rob joined Ames & Gough in 2007. Previously, he was an executive vice president with Thomas J. Sharpe & Associates, a regional insurance brokerage located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where he specialized in professional liability insurance, risk management, and loss-prevention services for architects and engineers. Prior to that, he was with XL Insurance for more than 10 years in a variety of capacities, including his last position as senior counsel and vice president.
Rob received his law degree, cum laude, from the Widener University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College.
Tom Marchetti is a senior vice president and equity partner of Ames & Gough. He is responsible for providing service to existing clients across all lines of insurance. He also develops new relationships in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, Florida, and other geographical regions within the United States. Additionally, Tom leads the growth of our association/non-profit business initiative.
Tom joined Ames & Gough in February 2010. Prior to that, he was with United Insurance Consultants (UIC), an insurance and risk management advisory firm in northern New Jersey, where he led the construction and real-estate team. In his previous role, Tom was a frequent speaker at industry events and developed specific expertise in advising clients on matters related to property and builders risk insurance, casualty insurance, and professional and management liability.
Tom holds a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation. He is a 2006 graduate of Wagner College, Staten Island, New York, where he majored in business administration with a concentration in finance.
Tracey Eaves will lead a Valuation Deep Dive breakout session at Zweig Group’s M&A Next Symposium next month. Over the last 20 years, Tracey has completed valuations ranging from small businesses to multi-million dollar operating companies to holding companies with a variety of assets.
Walter Powell, CPA, is CFO of Grace Design Studios, bringing more than 30 years of senior finance leadership across public and private companies. During his tenure as CFO/CAO of Atlas Technical Consultants he orchestrated 15 acquisitions, scaled revenue from $0 to $680 million, and led the firm through an IPO and a $1.05 billion go-private sale. He later optimized financial operations for $900 million-revenue New Era Technology, directing a 100-person global team. Earlier, Walter spent two decades with Deloitte, rising to Audit Partner-in-Charge for the Austin practice and guiding clients through complex capital-markets transactions. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of New Orleans and is a licensed CPA in Texas and Louisiana.
Will leads Zweig Group’s research team and ownership transition consulting group. He received his BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and his MBA from the University of Arkansas with a focus on entrepreneurship.
During that time, Will developed financial models and aided in the fundraising for a startup that has raised over 20 million dollars in capital.
Will has worked closely with management teams across the US to develop ownership transition plans, ranging from simple one-to-one transactions to complex projects that require a great deal of modeling and stakeholder education. Will analyzes and reports on the data AEC managers need to run successful firms. From developing benchmarking tools to compensation programs for transition planning, Will builds resources for decision makers.
Prior to joining Zweig Group, Will provided navigation and telemetry services for oil exploration projects, conducting data analysis for the integration of GPS and seismic readouts. Will comes from a long line of architects and has a passion for the industry that is unmatched.
