Zweig Group, a leading provider of advisory services, research, and education for the AEC industry, announces Ken Siebert, CMTA, as the recipient of the 2022 Jerry Allen Courage in Leadership Award, which recognizes outstanding accomplishments through leadership in the AEC industry.
Siebert, a nationally recognized expert in energy-efficient, sustainable building design, held the role of president at CMTA (Louisville, Kentucky) from 2006 to 2021.
Siebert built a collaborative culture at CMTA that was the driving force behind the firm’s ability to recruit and retain talented engineers. He mentored exceptional leaders that eventually became partners in the firm, established new offices, and lead CMTA practices around the country. Siebert showed bravery and took on risk by questioning norms and trying new engineering concepts. This approach became a key part of CMTA culture and success. During his tenure at CMTA, Siebert spearheaded the first educational Net Zero Energy building in the U.S., and under his direction, CMTA has now designed more than 9 million square feet of Net Zero Buildings. The firm has grown from 45 employees and $9.8 million in revenue in 2006 to approximately 400 employees and $135 million in revenue in 2021.
Siebert brought the same openness to CMTA's business side by successfully leading the firm through acquisitions in new office locations, such as Boston, Washington, D.C., and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Siebert leaves a profound impact on national standards for building energy efficiency, which has directly led to reduced environmental impact and the reinvestment of millions of dollars of energy cost savings into education, healthcare operations, and local communities.
