Press Release: August 1, 2011 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (August 1, 2011) – Gibson Applied Technology & Engineering, LLC (GATE), a 30-person oil and gas engineering company based in Houston, Texas, is in the running for the top 10 in the Best Firms to Work For ranking. This is the third consecutive year this firm has made the list. The Best Firms to Work For ranking is managed by CE News and ZweigWhite, publisher of CE News. This prestigious ranking is based on comprehensive evaluations of firm culture, workplace practices, employee benefits, employee retention rates, professional development, and more – both from the management and staff’s perspectives. All firms that apply are evaluated against each other, not a set standard. “By participating in Best Firm each year we receive an ongoing performance assessment and external benchmark that we can use to track and improve how we operate and ensure that we become an even better firm to work,” says Lee Jordan, GATE engineering manager.. GATE gleans a number of benefits during the process Jordan says. “Comparing the results of our 2009 and 2010 surveys enabled us to see a decrease in satisfaction with IT provision and support much earlier than would have otherwise been the case,” he says. “As a result, we substantially increased our annual IT budget to perform a major upgrade of our IT infrastructure and revamp how we support staff IT issues to ensure that this did not become a source of frustration or inefficiency.” The final ranking is announced at the Best Firms To Work For Summit, an annual event held by ZweigWhite. This year’s event takes place at the the Hilton San Diego Bayfront on Sept. 28-30. The true value of the Best Firms to Work for ranking isn’t about the award itself, it’s the process. As Jordan says, “We do not only approach Best Firm as a validation exercise or to get a plaque on the wall.” The summit is a learning experience for all as firms share strategies, success stories and industry news. Separate rankings are broken down by discipline into Civil Engineering Firms, Structural Engineering Firms, Architectural Firms, Multidiscipline A/E firms and Environmental Service Firms.
