Structural Engineering & Design magazine gets new name, look and focus

Jun 15, 2011

Press Release: June 15, 2011 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (June 15, 2011) – Beginning with its June issue, Structural Engineering & Design magazine is being repositioned as Structural Engineer magazine. Along with the full redesign, the name change means a new focus on the personality of the structural engineer — the unsung hero of the engineering profession. Each issue will feature a prominent, inspirational structural engineer on the cover of the magazine, a larger page format, and bigger, striking photos. “Structural Engineer will be the place to celebrate and promote (structural engineers’) unique role in the creation of the built environment,” said Mark Zweig, founder and CEO of ZweigWhite, publisher of Structural Engineer magazine. Each cover story will reveal the professional and personal choices and motivations that helped shape a structural engineer’s career. The first cover story, published in the June issue, features Craig Finley, Jr., P.E., managing principal at Finley Engineering Group, Inc. “I think the new format will appeal to a wider audience and renew interest in the structural engineering profession,” Finley said. “It gives a much better public image and the human interest side of the features is more appealing.” Other monthly additions to the magazine include a column about earthquake engineering called “Seismic Zone” and a tribute to a prominent structural engineer from the past called “Structural History.” And, as always, the magazine will continue to publish interesting and informative articles about structural engineering projects around the world, materials, software, business topics, and events, as well as special reports. The magazine is also published online at www.gostructural.com/toc--.html. Access to each issue is free. Lastly, starting with the July issue, Structural Engineer will welcome its new editor-in-chief, Dan Cuoco. As a world-renowned structural engineer who recently retired from Thornton Tomasetti as CEO, Cuoco will guide the editorial for each issue, maintaining its relevance and interest to structural engineers.
