Annual ElevateAEC Conference

ElevateAEC 2026 | Park City, UT | September 29 - October 1

Registration Opening Soon

Indianapolis, here we come!

Set against the energy of downtown Indianapolis, the 2027 ElevateAEC Conference & Awards Gala will bring together AEC leaders from across the country to challenge assumptions, exchange ideas, and explore what it takes to build firms that endure.

Our home for the experience is the new Signia by Hilton Indianapolis, in the heart of the city’s walkable downtown. Between sessions, keep the conversation going over dinner, explore the city with new colleagues, or take time to recharge. You’ll head home with fresh perspectives, practical ideas to share with your team, and peers you can call on long after the conference.

Opening Keynote– Risk vs Reward: Lessons in Courage from the Northwest Passage

with Kevin Vallely

In 2013, Kevin Vallely and three teammates rowed a small open boat through the Northwest Passage. No one had done it before. There was no guarantee they would. That trip wasn’t a metaphor for risk, it was risk itself: an uncertain reward, a real cost if it went wrong.

Fear was with them every day, and Kevin’s team learned early that naming it beat pretending it wasn’t there. What kept them moving wasn’t toughness, it was knowing that anyone on the boat could say something was wrong without it costing them their place on the team. That’s a fine line, and one Kevin has spent years learning to walk: the difference between pushing through and shutting down. In the end, purpose is what made quitting feel like the bigger risk than continuing.

Every organization has its own version of that rowboat, a bet on an uncertain outcome, made under real pressure, with people watching how their leaders handle it. The lessons carry over directly. Teams that suppress fear make worse calls than teams that surface it. Organizations where people can speak up without penalty catch problems before they compound. A leader with a clear sense of purpose has a filter for every hard decision that follows, and resilience grows out of that purpose rather than standing in for it.

Reward never comes without risk, and risk is never taken without courage. That’s the line between the organizations willing to take the leap and the ones that stay on shore.

From setting direction and aligning teams to making critical decisions and driving execution, the conversation will focus on how leaders create clarity, move with speed, and take decisive actions with confidence in an uncharted environment.

Luncheon Keynote – Empathy and Understanding: The Importance of People in an AI Future

with KP Reddy, Zero RFI

The loudest conversation in AEC right now is about what AI will replace. KP Reddy thinks that's the wrong question. The firms optimizing for headcount reduction are setting themselves up to lose the thing that actually makes them valuable. As routine work automates away, judgment, trust, and the ability to read a client become the scarce assets. Reddy will share why the AI era demands more investment in people, not less.

This session explores how to define and create resilient strategies in a turbulent economy. Much in the AEC industry is driven by the need to develop, expand or sunset existing infrastructure or new capital improvement projects. In an economy where whole markets are decreasing or increasing exponentially, permitting and standards are changing sometimes weekly, and sources of project funding are variable, the need to develop business growth and management strategies that are resilient and durable becomes more critical. Themes of administration orders, market fluctuations, staffing strategies and influence of AI will be explored.
